Gigabit Ethernet MAC IP with audio video bridging
The new Gigabit Ethernet MAC with AVB enables the transmission of audio and video streams synchronized within a microsecond of each other, with low delay, and with minimal lost data due to network congestion.
An AVB network implements a set of protocols developed by the IEEE 802.1 Audio/Video Bridging Task Group. There are four significant differences between the AVB MAC and standard 802 architectures; precise synchronization, traffic shaping for media streams, admission controls, and identification of non-participating devices. This feature set enables efficient use of Ethernet networks for audio and video and entertainment applications. The high quality IP has completed the rigorous interoperability tests at UNH-IOL laboratories and has been widely licensed. To enable designers to speed their time to market, Arasan also provides a portable Ethernet driver.
