Glitch-less RF digital step attenuator
The PE4314 device is ideal for wired broadband applications in cable/satellite customer premises equipment and infrastructure equipment.
Covering a frequency range from 1 MHz to 2.5 GHz, the DSA achieves an attenuation transient of just 0.5 dB, thereby eliminating the need for any software or firmware workarounds to mitigate the effect of a glitch and prevent damage to expensive subassemblies.
The PE4314 offers an attenuation range of 0 to 31.5 dB in 0.5 dB steps. An integrated digital control interface provides for both serial and parallel programming of the attenuation, including the capability to program an initial attenuation state at power up. The device supports 1.8 V control voltage and features an extended operating temperature range from -40 to 105ºC.
Housed in a 20-lead 4- x 4- x 0.85-mm QFN package, the PE4314 is fabricated using Peregrine’s UltraCMOS® process, which is a patented variation of silicon-on-insulator (SOI) technology on a sapphire substrate. Samples and evaluation kits are available to facilitate customer evaluation of the DSA.
