The top 50 EMS companies achieved sales of about $344 billion in revenue, up 4.2 percent from $330 billion in 2018. MMI largely tabulates its ranking information through an annual survey of over 100 of the largest EMS companies worldwide.

The list was led by Foxconn and Pegatron, as in 2018 (see Global top 50 ranking of EMS providers). But Jabil leapfrogged Flex to take third place and relegate Flex to fourth. Similarly at fifth and sixth Wistron went above Sanmina. New Kinpo was up one place at seventh and at eight was a brand new Chinese company entering the list; Byd Electronics. Celestica fell to ninth and Chinese manufacturer Universal Scientific Industries, known as USI, fell to tenth.

It is notable that whereas there were seven Chinese providers of EMS on the top 50 list for 2018, in 2019 that number grew to ten. The new Chinese entries in the top 50 were the already mentioned Byd, plus Shenzhen Kaifa, PCPartner and DBG. Valuetronics dropped out of the list.

Foxconn alone achieved revenue growth from 2018 to 2019 of an estimated 0.9 percent in terms of Taiwanese dollars, but because of its depreciating currency, revenue growth in terms of US dollars decreased by 1.6 percent.

The Asia-Pacific region accounted for around 90.2 percent of the top 50 EMS company’s revenue, with the Americas region representing 7.4 percent of revenue and EMEA 2.3 percent.

In the 1990s the America’s region made more than 50 percent of the world’s electronics with EMEA making about 30 percent and Asia-Pacific region responsible for just 20 percent, Manufacturing Market Insider observed.
