Google launches free machine learning ‘crash course’
The course is available on a new resource site – called Learn with Google AI – designed to make ML education available to everyone, from beginners to advanced researchers. The site, says the company, “will be a place where one can learn about core ML concepts, develop and hone machine learning skills, and apply ML to real-world problems.”
The new, free course is called Machine Learning Crash Course (MLCC). It provides exercises, interactive visualizations, and instructional videos that anyone can use to learn and practice ML concepts.
The resource was originally designed as a “fast-paced, practical introduction to ML fundamentals for Googlers.” More than 18,000 Googlers, says the company, have applied lessons from the course to enhance camera calibration for Daydream devices, build virtual reality for Google Earth, and improve streaming quality at YouTube.
The course’s success inspired the company to make it available to everyone. Additional courses and documentation will be added to Learn with Google AI in the future, the company says.
