French neuromorphic chip developer GrAI Matter Labs (GML) is teaming up with Adlink Technology to develop an AI module in the SMARC standard form factor.

The platform is based on Adlink’s SMARC I-Pi Development kit and GML’s Life-Ready GrAI Vision Inference Processor (VIP).

The AI SMARC module will enable robots, drones, autonomous vehicles, inspection cameras and other applications to provide real time response in a small form factor SMARC that can be directly embedded into the camera module.

The first GML and Adlink AI Kit for Robotics Education uses the ROS2 operating system and VIP chip on a SMARC I-Pi development platform developed with ERM Automatismes (ERM) in France. This combines a robot arm with a 2D/3D camera for visual perception and a GML GrAI VIP platform integrated with an ADLINK I-Pi SMARC module. The ERM curriculum includes modules for grasping, regression, classification and more.

“GML’s Life-Ready VIP offers a one-of-a-kind brain-inspired computing architecture optimized for AI Inference performance at very low power; a key feature most industrial clients demand for their Edge AI applications,” said Pierre Guillaume, head of sales for Adlink France. “Because Adlink’s expertise is at the edge, we are excited to partner with GML’s to bring their VIP accelerator into our existing IPI SMARC platform so we continue growing our business in key vertical segments such as Machine Vision & Robotics by offering to our clients the widest choice of market-leading AI accelerators in ready-to-use hardware form factors. We are also thrilled to empower the next generation of young European AI developers with the launch of GML’s IPI SMARC dev kit for the education market.”

“Together we will deliver a SMARC platform that will be integrated with our “Life-Ready AI” chip, GrAI VIP, allowing us to offer full-stack solutions to our end customers that will drive value for their businesses,” said Christian Verbrugge, GML Europe, Senior Director Business Development.;
