Vehicle supplier Grupo Antolin and BASF subsidiary Trinamix, which specializes in biometric solutions, plan to join forces in the automotive industry. Together, the two companies want to develop solutions for safer and more convenient vehicle access. To this end, they intend to integrate Trinamix’s facial authentication into Grupo Antolin’s product portfolio.
Grupo Antolin will contribute to the joint development its experience and knowledge of intelligent surfaces in vehicle interiors, with the aim of also offering advanced human-machine interfaces for driver-vehicle interaction in vehicle exteriors in the future. Building on its expertise in biometric security, Trinamix is expanding its activities beyond smartphone applications with this cooperation.
The collaboration between the Spanish technology provider and the German pioneer of biometric technologies combines the expertise and potential of both companies. The objective is to offer manufacturers in the automotive sector innovative solutions that improve the driving experience.
Trinamix Face Authentication, which is certified to the highest biometric security standards, uses patent-protected algorithms that verify a person’s liveness using skin recognition. The combination of software and hardware has the potential to authenticate drivers based on their biometrics as they approach their vehicle. While Trinamix thus provides consumers with a high level of access convenience without compromising on data protection, the solution also places low demands on hardware. This enables seamless and easy integration. “By integrating biometric solutions into our components, we can offer our customers value-added systems that combine lighting, electronics and smart surfaces with face authentication,” emphasizes Marta Cuevas, Grupo Antolin Lighting & HMI Business Unit Director. “Trinamix Face Authentication has proven itself in particularly challenging conditions. This performance makes the solution the perfect addition to our growing, innovative portfolio,” Marta Cuevas continues.
As part of its strategy to consolidate its position as a global provider of technological and innovative solutions, Grupo Antolin is committed to integrating new technologies in car interiors – from HMI systems to functional lighting and intelligent surfaces with the highest perceived quality. The company’s strategy is to help automakers develop advanced, technological vehicle interiors. Among other things, Antolin is working with Osram to develop interior lighting that projects images onto the car’s headliner to create a special ambience.
