Hall switch is ASIL-B certified
TDK Corporation has re-qualified its Micronas Hall-effect switch family HAL 15xy for automotive and industrial applications with regard to functional safety. All members of the HAL 15xy family are now defined as SEooC (Safety Element out of Context) ASIL B-ready according to the ISO 26262 standard.
Modules equipped with the HAL 15xy can now meet higher safety criteria in automotive applications, such as brake fluid level detection, seat belt buckle monitoring and as a brake light switch.
The AEC-Q100 qualified HAL 15xy offers diagnostic functions that allow it to be used in ASIL A and ASIL B classified automotive applications. For even more stringent safety requirements, the HAL 15xy has an additional special self-test during commissioning. Customers can activate a full functional test of the signal processing path and sensor output before standard operation is initiated to increase the diagnostic scope.
The HAL 15xy family of switches ensures operational reliability in demanding environments and can be operated in a wide supply voltage range from 24 V down to 2.7 V. This ensures reliable measurements even under voltage drops. This ensures reliable measurements even in the event of voltage drop. In addition, they are particularly robust against voltage peaks such as load dump pulses up to 40 V in the ambient temperature range from -40 °C to 150 °C.
Customers can choose between different temperature-compensated, constant switching points in a 3-wire version with short-circuit-proof open-drain output and a 2-wire current source version. In addition to the particularly compact SOT23-SMD housing according to JEDEC standard, the HAL 15xy is also available in a TO92-UA housing.
