Hameg logo disappears, brand lives on
Since the acquisition of Hameg by R&S in 2005, the instruments produced by the company carried both the logo of Hameg and R&S. Future products will be no longer be identifiable as Hameg instruments. Instead, the company hopes that they can benefit from the more widespread (and more prestigious) name of R&S. "Over the past years, Hameg has been growing strongly in Europe. Now we plan to continue this growth in other regions of the world. This can be achieved best under the brand name Rohde & Schwarz", explained Roland Steffen, member of the R&S board.
Hameg will continue to exist as a legally independent entity and as brand, explained a company spokesperson. Likewise, the company will continue to develop its products at its headquarters in Mainhausen (Germany). Serving the value segment of the market, Hameg develops and sells oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers, laboratory power supplies as well as a broad range of function generators, DMMs and RF generators. These products are already manufactured by R&S; there are no plans to alter this scheme, the spokesperson said.
