In working areas such as vehicle assembly or the manufacture of mechatronic assemblies there is often the problem that operating functions must be executed at units to be mounted in vehicles without availability of related ECUs and control elements. Examples for such applications are the installation of window lifter systems in vehicle doors, sunroofs for convertible models or electrically operated tailgates. The smartCommander can simulate communication messages of non-available control units on the CAN or LIN bus, making it possible to carry out control functions required for assembly processes.

The smartCommander is connected to a host PC via its USB port to program and download the ECU functions to be simulated. This enables the smartCommander’s utilization as a Gateway. Because the Unit under Test (UUT) can be remote controlled from the PC, additional specific measurements or routines, which are not possible in stand-alone operations, can be executed.
