
Helm.ai expands into Germany, raises $55m for driverless car AI software
US startup Helm.ai has opened its first international office in Dusseldorf, Germany, for AI software for driverless car developers.
This follows a $55m Series C funding round led by Freeman Group with participation from venture capital firms ACVC Partners and Amplo, as well as strategic investments from Honda Motor, Goodyear Ventures and Sungwoo Hitech.
Helm.ai provides OEMs and Tier 1 companies with hardware-agnostic AI software for advanced driver assistance (ADAS) and L4 driverless car systems.

“It is a pleasure to introduce Helm.ai’s innovations in robotics, AI and self-driving vehicles,” said Tobias Wessels , Chief Development Officer of Helm.ai. “I am confident that our new presence in Düsseldorf will be an intensive collaboration between the technological ingenuity of California and the ingenuity of German industry.”
The company is exhibiting at the IAA motor show in Munich this week.
