With these additions, Xilinx now claims to offer the world’s highest level of silicon integration that at the same time meets the safety, quality and reliability requirements for automotive, to power a wide range of computing nodes from edge sensors to centralized domain controllers.

The Xilinx Automotive (XA) Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC 7EV and 11EG devices offer over 650,000 programmable logic cells and nearly 3,000 DSP slices, which is 2.5X increase versus the previous largest device. In addition, the XA 7EV contains a video codec unit for h.264/h.265 encode and decode, while the XA 11EG includes 32 12.5Gb/s transceivers and provides four PCIe Gen3x16 blocks.

The addition of these devices to the XA portfolio enables carmakers, robotaxi developers, and Tier-1 suppliers to perform the type of data aggregation, pre-processing, and distribution DAPD tasks along with compute acceleration (in particular for Deep Neural Network computing that is required to implement highly sophisticated ADAS and automate driving. And all that in a power envelope that allows for scalable production deployments.

Xilinx’s MPSoCs provide flexible computing power
at many different instances of in-car data processing

The XA Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC portfolio is qualified according to AEC-Q100 test specifications and integrates both Xilinx programmable logic and a feature-rich 64-bit quad- core Arm Cortex-A53 and dual-core Arm Cortex-R5 based processing system that is certified to ASIL-C level in the low power domain. The combination of these features, paired with the high data throughput capability of the new devices, accelerate the deployment of autonomous vehicles on the road today.

Like all XA devices, the new products are supported by Vitis and Vitis AI, Xilinx’ unified software platform that enables developers to take advantage of the power of hardware adaptability.

The new devices are available for order today.
