The device has a programmable machine-learning core and 16 independent programmable finite state machines to assist designs to save power and reduce the need for data transfers to the cloud.

The IIS2ICLX has low power consumption to extend the lifetime of batteries. Its characteristics also ease the integration of the device into products, while minimizing the effort and cost of calibration.

The IIS2ICLX inclinometer uses MEMS accelerometer technology with a selectable full scale of ±0.5/±1/±2/±3g and can outputs over its I2C or SPI digital interface. The device uses embedded compensation to maintain stability over temperature to within 0.075mg/°C. Its ultra-low noise density of 15μg/√Hz allows high-resolution tilt sensing and sensing of low-level, low-frequency vibration.

The IIS2ICLX accelerometer can be used to sense the tilt with respect to a horizontal plane along two axes (pitch and roll) or, combining the two axes, is able to measure the tilt with high and repeatable accuracy and resolution with respect to a single direction of the horizontal plane over a range of ±180°. The digital output makes the device easy to integrate and reduces BOM cost by saving external digital-to-analog conversion or filtering.

To quicken development and make the IIS2ICLX easy to use, ST provides specific software libraries for sensor calibration and real-time computation of tilt angle. These software libraries are part of the X-CUBE-MEMS1 expansion software package for STM32Cube

The IIS2ICLX is housed in a high-performance ceramic-cavity LGA package that measures only 5mm x 5mm x 1.7mm. It features an operating temperature range of -40°C to +105°C.
