High-bandwidth PCIe signal transmission with lower signal degradation
TC7PCI3212MT and TC7PCI3215MT are suitable for applications involving the switching between different high-speed controller ICs such as PCIe Gen3, USB 3.0 and SATA 3.0 or the multiplexing of a single controller IC to expand the number of available peripheral interfaces. Typically, Toshiba says, this occurs in industrial and consumer PCs as well as networking and storage applications.
The switches achieve high bandwidth characteristics of 11.5 GHz at -3 dB that enable high-speed transmission with lower signal degradation by reducing switch terminal capacitance. All inputs are equipped with protection circuits against static discharge and the switches operate with a power supply voltage (VCC) of 3.0V to 3.6V. The switches feature a low on-capacitance of CI/O of 1.5 pF (typ.) at VCC=3.3V which enables the low insertion loss of -1 dB at frequencies of 4 GHz. This low insertion loss together with a crosstalk of -40 dB results in excellent performance of TC7PCI3212MT and TC7PCI3215MT during PCIe Gen3 compliance testing.
Both ICs are rated for an operational temperature range of -40°C to 85°C and vary only by pin arrangement, with layouts that enable designers specify chips that optimally fit existing PCB designs. The ICs are available in industry standard TQFN20 package and have been designed to have an optimal configuration for all arrangements of PCIe slots, connectors and switches.
