Toshiba Electronics Europe GmbH has added the TLP241B is a high-current photorelay to its expansive optoelectronics portfolio. The photorelay is ideal for use in industrial equipment, such as programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and I/O interfaces, as well as building automation systems like HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning).

By incorporating one of Toshiba’s ultra-advanced U-MOS MOSFETs, the TLP241B sets new performance benchmarks. It is the first photorelay device on the market to have an off-state output terminal voltage spanning all the way from 40 V to 100 V. As a result, it has the capacity to replace larger scale electro-mechanical relays, providing a more reliable, cost-effective and space-saving alternative. By relying on a non-contact optical arrangement rather than moving parts, engineers can benefit from longer operational lifespan, reduced system complexity and more rapid responsiveness.

In addition, the TLP241B possesses other key attributes that will boost its appeal. The device has an on-state current rating of 2 A (continuous) and 6 A (pulsed). It also offers 5 kV isolation capabilities, with an operating temperature range between -40℃ and 110℃. This new photorelay is housed in a DIP4 package. Gull wing options are available to facilitate surface mounting.
