The SHLR 4-2321, SHLR 4-3825, and SHLR 4-3825H are the industry’s first devices to combine low resistance down to 0.001 Ω, TCR to ±2 ppm/K, and high power ratings up to 50 W.

Offering load stability to 0.1% for up to 2,000 hours, the resistors released today provide highly accurate and reliable current measurement in industrial instrumentation and battery management systems, as well as smart energy grids and solar and wind inverters. For these applications, the devices feature a wide range of power ratings — from 3 W in free air to 50 W when mounted on a heatsink — and resistance values from 0.001 Ω to 0.005 Ω with tight tolerances to ±0.1%.

The SHLR series achieves its very low TCR in the standard working range of +20°C to +60°C from Bulk Metal Foil technology based on CuMnSn metal foil. The nearly flat TCR curve will help engineers to design more precise equipment or to upgrade existing systems.

SHLR series resistors feature maximum currents to 150 A, very low inductance, thermal EMF of < 1 μV/K, thermal resistance down to 1.6 K/W, and an operating temperature range of -40°C to +130°C. Offered in anodized aluminum packages, the devices are RoHS-compliant and lead (Pb)-free.

Samples and production quantities of the SHLR 4-2321, SHLR 4-3825, and SHLR 4-3825H resistors are available now, with lead times of eight weeks. The SHLR 4-2321, SHLR 4-3825, and SHLR 4-3825H resistors will be among the products on display during electronica 2016 at the VPG Foil Resistors booth B6/116 at the Messe München, Nov. 8-11.

The newly redesigned www.vpgfoilresistors.com website offers detailed information on resistors from the Vishay Foil Resistors, Powertron, and Alpha Electronics brands
