To avoid sampling cadence changes, the solution focuses on clock stability while acquiring the signal. These changes, an adverse effect on signal acquisition, typically occurs when an external k-clock is used. The signal processing on the U5303A is done in real-time directly on the data acquisition card which significantly reduces the processing load on the host computer.

The solution has been developed using Keysight’s U5340A FPGA development kit. This ensures the portability of the OCT signal processing IP to other data acquisition cards of the same vendor. No internal circuitry dedicated to OCT is needed. An easy migration of the processing IP is a key to future OCT technology developments, the vendor assures.

OCT is used in medical real-time imaging and currently is seen as a technology that is evolving at a rapid pace.
