High-voltage GreenPAK IC for motor drive applications
The CMIC provides both configurable logic, configurable analog and high-voltage outputs in a small 2 x 3 mm QFN package.
The SLG47105 is an addition to Dialog’s GreenPAK product family and offers a cheaper, one-time NVM programmable option for those wishing to incorporate both digital and analog system functions and minimize component count, board space and power consumption for motor applications.
The new device can drive two Brushed DC motors, a single Stepper Motor, Solenoid or any other load requiring up to 1.5A RMS current per output, and an operating voltage up to 13.2V. The device provides standard protection features, including over temperature, undervoltage and over current protection, as well as configurable digital and analog features that allow users to develop a customized protection and motor control scheme for current or voltage regulation, stall detection or soft motor start. The combination of those features allow better system reliability and more efficient battery usage.
The SLG47105 also offers low power consumption functions such as internal voltage references, power-on reset, an oscillator and more advanced digital resources, including PWMs. The chip has a current consumption in standby mode as low as 70nA.
Dialog has also updated the GreenPAK Designer software package to include simulation capabilities that incorporate external components, ranging from passive components like shunt resistors to more complex devices like motors. The new software release is intended to reduce development time and simplify the design process over the whole GreenPAK portfolio.
An evaluation board that includes both a brushed and stepper motor is now available for the SLG47105 through Dialog’s GreenPAK Online Store.
