The HiPEAC conference in Munich is full of surprises
While ‘upstairs’ on the conference floor, the latest technologies on High Performance Computing are presented, ‘downstairs’ in the U-bahn, on the platform, you can find one of the first Tube switching schematics. Hans Piloty developed the circuit and it was used, together with another 2500 circuits in the Perm – one of the first ‘supercomputers’ at that time (1952). The circuit is around a duo triode vacuum tube, the E90 CC.
If you are visiting the conference you should have a look. This schematic puts an interesting perspective to the whole conference!
