Swedish development tool vendor IAR Systems has rebranded, changing its name slightly to IAR as it splits into three divisions.
“IAR was founded in 1983 and has a strong history in delivering the best engineering for the embedded technology space. During the 40 years we have been in business, we have kept challenging and transforming what we do to deliver our customers the best software innovations and the most efficient solutions. Today I am proud to release our updated brand that reflects our mission of enabling our customers to create and secure the products of today and the innovations of tomorrow,” said Richard Lind, CEO of IAR.
The timing of the change comes at a time of significant transformation for the company, which is owned by I.A.R. Systems Group AB and is now being split into three divisions following the acquisition of Secure Thingz in 2018.
IAR Embedded Development Solutions (EDS) develops the Embedded Workbench, C-Stat, C-Run, Visual State and C-Spy tools for embedded engineers.
IAR Embedded Security Solutions (ESS) was formerly the SecureThingz subsidiary. This is developing the IAR Embedded Trust and the late-stage security tools along with IAR Embedded Secure IP to provide security all the way to production.
- EU Cyber Resilience Act boosts embedded security
- Secure Thingz adds STM32 security support
- Consumer IoT security endorsed by Secure Thingz
The objective of the third division, IAR Embedded Academy, is to skill up developers across the world. This is is not sold stand-alone but is a complimentary service that comes with the tools and includes access to training, networking, classes, and tutorials.
“As we grow as a company, our new brand reflects our will always to stay young at heart, relevant, and leading the way for a secure and intelligent embedded experience for every person and device on the planet. Now we are taking the next step of our journey,” said Lind who took over as CEO at the start of last year.
