Sitting between the thermopile sensor and a downstream microcontroller, the E931.18 is connected to the sensor through an analog line. The sensor signal then is converted to a 17-bit digital signal and forwarded to the microcontroller across a single-wire DOCI (Data Out, Clock In) interface with an operating voltage of just 2.7 volts. Multiple sensors can be connected simultaneously. The IC offers very exact temperature reading at high resolution of better than 0.02K.

 

Target applications include compact ear thermometers, highly exact temperature remote measurements and infrared pyrometers, to name just a few examples.
