If 3D printing was not enough
Running the final hours of a Kickstarter campaign which already secured the startup nearly ten times its initial USD35,000 goal, the Stepcraft 2 desktop CNC solution stacks an impressive list of features, being able to mill, carve, engrave, 3D print, laser engrave, work as a vinyl/craft cutter, plotter and do even more.
The desktop machine is offered with working areas of varying size from 210x210mm to 840x600mm and backers’ packages come in all flavours, from the most basic software-controlled framework with adapters for your own machining tools, to the most complete setups including more CNC motion control software, various spindle adapters together with a Dremel 4000 rotary tool and several fitting bits, a 3D printer attachment, a drag cutter, a hot wire cutter and plotter pens.
As the campaign has been rather successful, the company is also working on including a laser cutter/engraver to the line of system attachments by the end of the year. With so many head options for the desktop maker, it is also developing an automatic tool changing option with magazines that can hold up to 10 tools so users can shift from one machining option to another at the push of a button.
This version 2 stems from users’ feedback over the 2,000+ Stepcraft V1 machines that were sold throughout Europe over the last two years. So if 3D printing was not enough, here is a winner in the do-it-all category.
