Immersive 3D audio gets ported to cellular, IoT chips
Auro, a spin off from Galaxy Studios, has developed such technology offerings as Beautifyer, Auro-Matic 2D, Auro-Matic 3D, Auro-Cx Decoder and Auro-Cx Engine, which are 3D immersive audio software products.
RDA Microelectronics is a fabless chip company owned by China’s Tsinghua Unigroup and can include the 3D sound capabilities in integrated circuits for use in cellular broadcast and IoT applications. Since its formation in 2004 RDA has shipped more than two billion chips for use within mobile handsets, set-top boxes, MP3 players and other wireless and consumer electronic devices. These are generally found in equipment sold in China, Southeast Asia, India, the Middle East, Africa, Russia, and Latin America.
“As a leading chip vendor in China, it was natural to align our brand with RDA that has global name recognition and respect to help us expand our reach and bring industry-leading sound to new markets,” said Wilfried Van Baelen, CEO of Auro Technologies, in a statement.
