Industry veteran Charlie Sporck dies

Charles Sporck, long time CEO of National Semiconductor, has died at the age of 96 in Sunnyvale, California.

He worked at Fairchild, starting out as manufacturing plant manager with Bob Noyce and Gordon Moore, who went on to found Intel, and Jerry Sanders, who went on to found AMD.

While at Fairchild he rose to the position of General Manager but left in 1967 to join National Semiconductor. He served as CEO of National until 1991 when he retired. There is an inteview on the history on National at the Computer History Museum.
