Industry’s lowest power PCIe Gen4 NVMe SSD controllers

By eeNews Europe

The new SSD controllers – 88SS1321, 88SS1322 and 88SS1323 – offer a combination of low power and high performance for data centres and edge devices. The range is manufactured on a 12nm process and supports existing and emerging m.2 (22110 to 2230), BGA, EDSFF and U.2 SSD form factors.

The controllers will allow next-generation 3D and QLC NAND solutions to be cost-effective, reducing the total cost of ownership. The architecture has no DRAM and allows for an SSD controller and NAND unit to be placed side-by-side on a single-sided m.2230 form factor SSD while providing better performance than PCIe Gen 3×4 SSDs and lower power consumption than eight NAND channel controller-based SSDs.
