Infineon joins Chinese IoT security push

The Laboratory is intended to develop security technologies for smart home appliances that are manufactured and used in China.

The founder members are: the China Electronics Standardization Institute (CESI) supervised by the Ministry of industry and information technology; Midea Group; Huawei Consumer business group; Tencent Holdings and Infineon.

China is the fastest growing market for smart home appliances. IHS Markit researchers forecast that shipments of smart home appliances will grow from 15 million units in 2016 to 223 million in 2020, which represents a compound annual growth rate over the period of 97 percent.
