Infineon System Basis Chips first to support ISO CAN FD
An SBC is the main supply of power and communication for MCUs within automotive ECUs. They are ICs that combine voltage supplies, communication bus interfaces (CAN, LIN) and supervision features. Combining the three elements in a single chip lowers system costs provides up to 80% smaller designs.
Infineon Lite SBCs are the entry level SBCs that feature one CAN transceiver. The Mid-Range+ SBCs have one CAN and up to two LIN transceivers.
The new SBCs can provide lower power consumption by using the optional partial networking feature and putting the ECU in a sleep or stop mode when it is not needed. The Lite SBC family also has a charge pump to drive high side n-channel power MOSFETs. It can disconnect an external load during sleep mode.
All devices in the ranges have diagnostic and supervision features, such as under-voltage monitoring, window watchdog with reset, fail-safe operating mode and fail-safe output. The Mid-Range+ family allows external loads can be driven by four high-side switches. The SBCs are scalable regarding the number of communication interfaces and are software compatible with other Infineon SBC families.
