With an emission angle of ±18°, the LED’s direction of emission is slightly angled at 8°, rather than vertical, easing the design process by eliminating the usual mechanical aids. With the SFH 4787S, Osram has developed an emitter with a flat light, optimizing the reflector and lens to ensure virtually constant intensity across the emitted light beam. The device comes in a compact 3.5×3.5×1.6mm Oslux package and outputs a wavelength of 810nm, allowing high-contrast images for all eye colours. The chip delivers 720mW at a current of 1A, with a radiant intensity of 1,000 milliwatts per steradian (mW/sr).
