Intelligent dual mode Bluetooth modules target industrial and medical applications
The fully approved, programmable module features the company’s event-driven smartBASIC programming language, which significantly reduces OEM development risk and speeds time to market. The BT900 series allows anyone to easily and quickly add wireless capabilities to their embedded device such as a barcode scanner, portable medical device, and more.
What makes the BT900 series unique is smartBASIC, an event-driven programming language that enables hostless operation of the module, significantly reducing the overall BOM cost of the OEM product. Laird has extended the field proven implementation of smartBASIC from the popular BL600 and BL620 series of single-mode BLE modules into the latest BT900 series. This allows developers the flexibility of utilizing smartBASIC’s Core and wireless Extension functions from the BL600 and BL620 series to create many interchangeable BLE applications between these two product ranges.
Key application areas for the BT900 series include industrial cable replacement, medical devices, ePOS terminals and barcode scanners for portable, power-conscious devices, including those powered by batteries.
Without the need for any external processor, a simple smartBASIC application captures the complete end-to-end process of reading, writing, and processing of any data which then uses Classic Bluetooth or BLE to transfer it to or from any Bluetooth device.
In addition to carrying FCC modular, IC, CE, and MIC approvals, BT900 modules are fully qualified as a Bluetooth product, enabling designers to integrate the modules in devices without the need for further Bluetooth testing. The BT900 low-cost developer’s kit includes software tools which simplify module integration and guarantee the fastest route to market for reliable, portable devices.
