Inverter platform targets low-voltage vehicles
Semikron contributes the power section as an overall assembly with an integrated MOSFET module with connected DC link, gate driver, protection functions and sensors available. The SKAI 3 LV offers a complete, powerful solution for 3-phase motor drives and a prefabricated power section. All together in a customised enclosure results in a compact MOSFET inverter. It is a platform concept that offers standard designs or can be adapted to the user’s needs. The inverter can be easily connected to a customised control board. This allows for quick and easy design, while leaving the control up to the customer.
From its side, Silicon Mobility provides the digital control and software requirements of the platform with the OLEA Composer – T222 Starter Kit for SKAI 3 LV. This includes a reference board with the OLEA T222 FPCU control chip and the OLEA APP Inverter software. These are adapted to the inverter system and are fully configurable to support a wide range of 3-phase PMSM and WRSM electric motors and position sensors. The application provides efficient and safe torque and speed management using field-oriented control (FOC) and variable space vector pulse width modulation (PWM) algorithms from 2 kHz up to 100 kHz. It also includes numerous configurable safety mechanisms for fault detection and response such as overcurrent, overvoltage and overtemperature. Calibration and validation are enabled by native support of the ASAM standard. The starter kit also includes vehicle-dependent software demo code and GUI software for measurement, configuration, calibration and firmware update.
The platform is available as a “white box”, where users can customise Semikron’s power module/housing and access to the OLEA APP inverter code through a special licence if desired.
