The company has strengthened its products especially for the development and testing of driver assistance systems and automated driving functions. With a new tool for generating scenarios as well as additional detailed sensor models, the release 6.0 sets new standards in this area. And with many other functionalities such as an optimized traffic model and new 3-D objects, IPG Automotive continues to help users meet the latest industry requirements with a virtual driving test.

The simulation software CarMaker (as well as the variants TruckMaker and MotorcycleMaker), enable the development and testing of systems in the complete vehicle in realistic scenarios. The simulation solutions are designed as open integration and test platforms. Customers benefit from a significant time and cost savings in a comprehensive development process from model, software and hardware-in-the-loop to vehicle-in-the-loop.

Particularly in the areas of driver assistance and automated driving, the image of complex traffic scenarios in the virtual driving test plays a decisive role. With the Scenario Editor, the Release 6.0 of the CarMaker product family now provides a powerful tool for the rapid and efficient generation of detailed scenarios. This facilitates their manual creation and configuration as well as the processing of imported real existing roads from map or measurement data from the real environment.

CarMaker 6.0 also includes a number of different sensor models, which can be used according to individual requirements. This ranges from generating the ideal sensor model for concept studies and general functional tests to physical models for the development of sensor components and algorithms. In addition, the user is now offered an improved realistic virtual traffic environment. The physical traffic models move autonomously and physically correctly on the virtual routes. Measured trajectories of all traffic participants can be imported into the simulation and varied. In addition, the new version of the CarMaker product family includes many different animated objects such as pedestrians, animals or balls for the realistic display of different scenarios. In addition, the simulation software from IPG Automotive now includes a complete Euro NCAP testware package that enables designers to conduct virtual crash tests in accordance with Euro NCAP protocols.

With Release 6.0, customers can now access a comprehensive library of new 3-D objects, ranging from vehicles and buildings to infrastructure projects such as bus stops or street lanterns in the 3-D visualization tool IPGMovie. In addition, a camera model for rectaline lenses as well as an optimized model for fish eye lenses are available. IPG Automotive has also expanded the spectrum of the tire models of the CarMaker product family, and users can now also use the TASS International MF-Tire / MF-SWIFT model. Version 6.0 also includes new features for CarMaker / HIL users: The complete CarMaker environment can now be used in combination with the current Scalexio hardware from dSPACE.
