ISELED alliance gains further momentum
“The broad spectrum of alliance members greatly expands the potential application spectrum – far beyond the original target application of automotive interior lighting,” said Robert Kraus, CEO of Inova Semiconductors and one of the founding fathers of the ISELED Alliance. The new ILaS control bus concept (ISELED Light and Sensor Network) plays an important role in this. It was developed on the basis of the ISELED protocol. In the future, not only LED elements, but also other components such as matrix LED lights, sensors and actuators can be controlled in large numbers via a simple two-wire line, which is not possible in this form with today’s common buses such as LIN and CAN.
Recently, six new members have joined the alliance. With the automotive supplier Dräxlmaier Group, and Everlight Electronics, a renowned LED manufacturer, two other major players in the lighting segment support the ISELED ecosystem.
The Dräxlmaier Group’s product portfolio for the premium automotive industry includes integrated ambient & functional lighting systems, interior systems, wiring systems and battery systems for e-mobility. The company, headquartered in Vilsbiburg, Lower Bavaria, was founded in 1958 and today employs around 70,000 people in over 20 countries.
Everlight Electronics is an optoelectronics manufacturer and supplier of LED solutions based in Taipei, Taiwan. It markets LEDs, SMD and THR lamps, digital displays, IR transmitters, optical sensors and optocouplers.
New to the alliance is Xingyu Car Light Co. Ltd (Changzhou, China). This company develops and manufactures automotive LED lamps. Based on a patented technology platform, the Scottish company designLED integrates LEDs into thin and mechanically flexible “light tiles” without bulky secondary optics and heat sinks for applications ranging from automotive interior lighting to architecture and design. Techniplas, headquartered in Nashotah, Wisconsin, is a global group of companies providing design and manufacturing services with innovative technologies for a networked world. At CES 2019, for example, the group of companies presented a concept vehicle with cognitive light, smart structures and lightweight construction.
