Following substantial R & D investment the J1772 connector has been specified to use AC Level 1 and Level 2 charging for use with EV, EVSE and plug-in hybrid electric (PHEV) vehicles. The charging system is built in accordance with SAE standard J1772 201001 (current revisions) which is approved by regional test laboratories worldwide. Consisting of the J2CE Connector and the J2IV inlet, the system is designed for a minimum of 10,000 cycles of mechanical operation and meets UL50 Type 3R/3S sealing for weather protection.

The connector features a new streamlined shape with an ergonomic handle, textured for improved grip, an important design factor as EV drivers handle the connector on a daily basis. The connector can accommodate an extended range of cables to satisfy the different regional preferences of the world. The ITT ICS connector is capable of delivering a 75A charge, which results in far faster charging time – less that half that of offerings from other industry suppliers, claims the manufacturer.
