Knowles to extend custom miniaturization to medical OEMs
Knowles Corporation has announced that it will offer its high-precision miniaturization capabilities to medical technology (MedTech) OEMs.
These services fror medical technology include services including micro-stamping, micro-molding, micro-ultra fine wire coil winding, micro connector and cable assembly, microelectronics, precision machining, and design and development.
Knowles’ miniaturization capabilities will provide MedTech OEMs with customized design, development, and manufacturing services for scalable miniature components and assemblies. With strong manufacturing prowess and design and development expertise, Knowles will help companies scale production efficiently and cost-effectively.
“For more than 70 years, Knowles has been a leading innovator of miniaturized technologies for the hearing health sector. As demand for precision-crafted components rises for MedTech companies, we’re eager to extend our services to OEMs in the category,” said Jon Kiachian, president of MedTech and Specialty Audio at Knowles. “Our services are characterized by our unwavering commitment to consistency, reliability, precision and quality, and we look forward to bringing those values to MedTech OEMs as they optimize their design for manufacturability, supply chain and production timelines.”
Services offered by Knowles will benefit the innovation of several medical device categories, including implantable devices, precision surgical instruments, surgical robotics, diagnostics, and drug delivery systems. Leveraging its state-of-the-art precision miniaturization technologies to achieve micron-level accuracy, Knowles adheres to strict specifications and conducts validation and verification testing to ensure that every component and sub-assembly meets the required standards.
Recently, Knowles Corporation was selected by EarSonics to provide balanced armature (BA) drivers for its EM96 Customizable In-Ear Monitor (IEM).
Knowles BAs feature a small form factor, powerful output, and treble extension capabilities. The EM96 delivers unmatched precision and fidelity with a three-way crossover of six Knowles drivers per earpiece, including two woofers and two mid-range BAs. It is also the first IEM in Europe to use two Knowles Supertweeters.
Featuring a patented coil design with reduced inductance, the Knowles Supertweeter uses a specially constructed high-stiffness, low-mass reed to deliver unprecedented output and ultra-high treble frequency without requiring an amplifier or transformer. The Supertweeters enable EM96 to achieve a high-frequency response extending up to 25 kHz.
“EarSonics sought to achieve world-class, high-res sound with the EM96,” said EarSonics CEO Franck Lopez. “Whether in the studio or playing live, being able to hear every note of a song is paramount for musicians and sound engineers. The Knowles BAs help us ensure true-to-life audio on par with professional-grade studio monitors.”
The unique driver architecture works with EarSonics TRUWAVE™ and Ω-Corrector technology to achieve a wide stereo image, an exceptional air feeling, and a consistent frequency response suitable for a range of listening conditions.
“EarSonics uses Knowles BAs to create a distinct sound signature across its line of IEMS,” said Jon Kiachian, President of MedTech and Specialty Audio at Knowles Corporation. “Adding two of our Supertweeters to the EM96 will create a new benchmark for world-class frequency extension and sound clarity.”
