Kurt Sievers to replace Clemmer as CEO of NXP
Clemmer has been CEO since 2009 and oversaw a difficult, debt-laden period that was the aftermath of an equity buyout of NXP from previous parent Philips.
Sievers has been president of NXP since September 2018 and has had oversight and management of all NXP’s business lines. Sievers joined NXP in 1995 and has been a member of the executive management team since 2009. In 2015, Sievers was influential in the merger of NXP and Freescale Semiconductors.
A definitive date for Sievers’ promotion was not given but the board of directors will propose the appointment of Mr. Sievers as executive director and Chief Executive Officer at the company’s annual general meeting of shareholders scheduled for May 27, 2020. Clemmer will continue for a period as a strategic advisor to NXP to enable a smooth transition.
