Lantronix to fill digital classrooms’ printing gap with PAL programme
Helping schools and universities optimise their investment in today’s digital classrooms, PAL closes the loop on the missing link for students and teachers who need to print from their tablets, smartphones, Chromebooks, and other mobile devices.
The Connecticut-based National Parent Teacher Organisation (PTO) has joined PAL as an official sponsor. The programme consists of product discounts, idea sharing on social media, professional services, and a year-long photo contest. It is applicable to primary and secondary education and higher education institutions, PTO members, students, parents, faculty and administrators in the USA.
It may seem counter to the notion of going digital, but the digital classroom with its tablets, netbooks and other devices creates an undeniable need for paper. In fact, there remains a strong need for students and teachers to be able to print a variety of items – from homework to tests to lesson plans.
But printing from mobile devices can be a challenge, moreover, with the bulk of technology purchases going towards tablets and Chromebooks, many schools do not have the resources to spend tens of thousands of dollars to buy new printers with built-in mobile printing capabilities.
Hence the company is offering a 20 percent product discount for its xPrintServers to students, parents, teachers, and administrators (using the promotional code PAL20 on its eStore).
Students and teachers alike are encouraged to visit the PAL Facebook page at www.facebook.com/PALbyLantronix to showcase personal achievements, fun discoveries as well as share ideas on how to best use technology in the classroom. The Facebook page will also provide helpful tips, insights on trends and case studies.
To kick off the PAL Programme, Lantronix is hosting a year-long photo contest, in which students and educators are encouraged to submit photos highlighting technology creativity in the classroom. To enter, participants can upload their photos on the PAL Facebook page through the photo contest tab. A winner will be selected at random each month and will receive an xPrintServer Home Edition or an xPrintServer Cloud Print Edition.
From a campus-wide level, PAL offers a free consultation with Lantronix’s professional services team to discuss ways that educational institutions can make the most of their technology investments in mobile printing. School IT professionals can register for this complimentary consultation at www.Lantronix.com/PAL.
