These areas include biometrics, component and systems security, electronics, low-power architecture, IoT and connectivity.

Didier Lamouche, CEO of Oberthur, said he planned for the company to double spending on R&D over the next three years in response to customer demand.

“After Seoul and Lodz in 2015, we’ve just opened two new R&D centers in France, one in Pessac for our specialist cryptography teams and the other in Sophia Antipolis for the integration of our security technologies in the automotive and mobile spaces. The partnership with Leti is another step in ensuring OT is well positioned for the future, particularly in terms of IoT and biometrics,” he said in a statement.

Leti CEO Marie Semeria said reliability, security and privacy must be factored into products and components from the start.
