Products and services under its new “ThinQ” brand, says the company, will all have the ability to employ deep learning and communicate with one another to make consumers’ lives easier. This is said to be part of the company’s vision to become a “human-centered” AI company.

According to the company, its ThinQ products will use a variety of AI technologies, including some from other partners as well as LG’s own AI technology, DeepThinQ – an AI platform it announced at CES 2017. The company also announced an initiative to include Wi-Fi in its entire line of premium appliances launched this year.

“Our new ThinQ platform for LG’s intelligent products is the latest way that LG is delivering innovations that make consumers’ lives easier and more enjoyable,” says David VanderWaal, vice president of marketing for LG Electronics USA. “LG ThinQ enables deep learning technology and connectivity across household products, delivering even greater capabilities and convenience.”

This week, the company also announced that it has distributed its ThinQ AI development platform to all of its business divisions in an effort to speed up the release of new ThinQ products. According to the company, products based on the “DeepThinQ” platform – which supports voice and video recognition – will “become smarter as time passes, as they can educate themselves.”

LG reportedly offers the most extensive range of Wi-Fi-enabled appliances in the U.S. available today using its SmartThinQ Wi-Fi connectivity. Users can manage their LG appliances with one app, available for Android or iOS, which also works with voice control via Google Assistant and Amazon’s Alexa.
