Liebert APM UPS achieves Carbon Trust’s Enhanced Capital Allowance Accreditation

The ETPL is a register of the most energy efficient technology products eligible for an ECA. Under the ECA scheme, businesses that purchase products on the list are able to write-off the entire cost of the equipment against taxable profits in the year of purchase. This provides a cash flow boost and incentive to invest in energy saving equipment. The scheme also brings an immediate, first year saving on Corporation Tax, mitigating the capital cost that can represent a barrier to achieving ongoing green savings.

Franco Costa, strategic planning and marketing director, AC Power, Emerson Network Power  in EMEA said: “The addition of Liebert APM to the ECA scheme follows the accreditation of two other products under the Emerson Network Power brand: Chloride’s 80-NET UPS in January 2011 and Chloride’s Trinergy UPS in August 2010. This means that Emerson Network Power now offers the widest power ratings UPS equipment with ECA accreditations in the market (from 30 kVA up to 9.6 MW). It’s also a testament of our commitment to provide real energy efficient solutions to customers. The proposition we’re making already provides the best solution in capital and energy efficiency – but the ECA makes the business case for achieving efficiencies even more persuasive.”

The Liebert APM is a transformer-free, on-line UPS designed specifically for in-the-row deployment in data centres that allows quick and easy capacity increases with FlexPower hardware assemblies. The Liebert UPS operates with the industry’s highest energy efficiency (up to 96 percent) even when supplying only 30 percent of the UPS rated capacity, such that it offers significant energy savings as the data centre grows. Additionally, the Liebert APM brings an energy efficiency tax break, equivalent to a 25 percent discount on its cost, providing businesses with a significant incentive to investment in energy efficiency.

The Liebert APM is aimed at small and medium sized computer rooms and data centres operating alongside server equipment, to deliver conditioned power at the highest efficiency whilst occupying the minimum footprint.
