Lighting Alliance doubles number of members

The spectrum of new members in the ISELED Alliance ranges from semiconductor manufacturers and lighting/design specialists to large Tier 1 automotive suppliers. This covers the entire value chain in order to establish ISELED as a standard solution – beyond the automotive industry in the future. “Light in the vehicle is increasingly becoming an important design element, but will also take on functional tasks in the future. In combination with displays, light will become an integral part of innovative visualization concepts, especially with regard to highly automated and autonomous driving,” says Robert Kraus, CEO of Inova Semiconductors.

In the future, the possibilities will extend far beyond interior lighting, for which ISELED was originally designed. The cooperation with the alliance partners should make it possible to realize a dynamic display backlight with ISELED, which has already been described in the press as an “OLED killer”. The group, which initially focused on complex interior lighting systems for vehicles, is now working on the first systems for exterior lighting, including car-man communication. The new ISELED-based fieldbus, which is currently under development, should extend even further into other fields of application: ICN (ISELED Communication Network), will not only connect lighting elements, but also sensors and actuators.

The new members cover a broad spectrum of technologies and submarkets. In addition to LED manufacturers such as Brightek from Taiwan and Itswell from Korea, Allegro MicroSystems from the USA, a manufacturer of power and sensor semiconductors, has also joined the ranks. Other newcomers include UG-System for test systems and ISYS RTS for software development. Lightworks and feno specialize in lighting design and the development of the corresponding electronics – to name just a few examples. With Hella and Grupo Antolin, two further major automotive suppliers for the lighting sector will also enrich the ISELED ecosystem.

The 2nd ISELED Conference will take place in Munich on April 5, 2019. Further information, agenda and registration at: https://www.iseled-conference.com/
