LIN-based chipset for automotive actuation applications

The two-chip solution integrates sensing directly into the drive electronics to simplify and shorten design time.

The first IC is the MLX81325, an integrated smart motor pre-driver with LIN connectivity and a protocol controller to enable fine PowerFET control for a brushed motor drive with smooth start and stop. The IC also has four FET PWM pre-drivers, 32k Flash memory and 16k ROM. Eight I/O lines allow direct connection of Melexis position sensors. The device is housed in a small QFN32 32-pin 5mm x 5mm package.

The second IC is a mixed signal CMOS-based MLX92255 second-generation dual Hall-effect latch with two speed outputs and an onboard voltage regulator. Each sensor features advanced offset cancellation and two open drain output drivers. This device is available in a 5-pin TSOT package measuring just 2.75mm x 2.90mm.
