Nisshinbo Micro Devices has developed a low drop out (LDO) voltage regulator for high quality audio designs.

The MUSES100 CMOS low-noise, low-dropout (LDO) voltage regulator has a ripple rejection ratio of 90 dB at 1 kHz & 10 kHz and 80 dB at 100 kHz. The low output noise voltage of 3.0 μVrms is suitable for high-quality audio DACs and other audio equipment to ensure stable and noise-free audio output even under fluctuating power conditions for home audio, professional audio, and portable audio equipment.

The CMOS-based LDO regulator operates with an input voltage range from 2.5V to 5.5V, delivering an output voltage range from 1.2V to 5.0V and supporting an output current of up to 600mA.

The typical dropout voltage is 0.15V at 600mA, providing efficient voltage regulation with minimal power loss. A thermal shutdown, under-voltage lockout (UVLO), and overcurrent protection mechanisms are included to ensure reliable operation. Furthermore, it supports the use of film and aluminium electrolytic capacitors as these have better DC bias characteristics with less reduction in capacitance as the applied DC voltage increases.

Established in January 2022, Nisshinbo Micro Devices is the merger of the former Ricoh Electronic Devices and New Japan Radio, both members of the Nisshinbo Group.

The MUSES100 LDO uses a compact DFN3030-8-QC package and is available now.
