WirelessUSB NL boasts -87 dBm receive sensitivity at 1 Mbps. This enhanced sensitivity enables longer range operation and allows for lower-power transmit signals. The device features low active and standby current (less than 1 µA), enabling battery life to be more than a year for normal mouse usage. WirelessUSB NL also has a closed-loop internal architecture that minimizes signal frequency drift for robust radio performance. This robustness minimizes retries during transmission enabling lower power consumption and allows for long payload lengths of up to 255 bytes.

As with other Cypress WirelessUSB families, the NL device offers superior performance in the presence of common 2.4-GHz interference from sources such as WiFi, Bluetooth, cordless phones and microwaves. The device is highly integrated, requiring less than 12 non-critical supporting components to make a complete mouse. This integration reduces board space, BOM cost and manufacturing cost, while improving overall product quality.

WirelessUSB NL is complemented by the company’s enCoRe™ II/V low-voltage, highly integrated microcontrollers, offering manufacturers a single source of supply and support. WirelessUSB NL also supports the company’s Agile HID(tm) protocol that allows existing WirelessUSB customers to get started quickly on their designs without any additional effort. Reference designs to speed time-to-market are available from Cypress for these solutions.
