David Srodzinski, Elonics’ Chief Executive Officer, said, “Using our unique software configurable RF CMOS technology, we are able to offer set top box and television manufactures a single tuner solution that covers all of the major digital TV broadcast standards. We are able to support many different standards such as DVB-T, DVB-T2, ISDB-T and many more by re-configuring the tuner in software, with unparalleled performance.”
Low IF output tuners, such as the E4005, have many advantages; they are much easier to route on a PCB compared to traditional high IF output tuner cans due to the lower frequencies involved; the single IF output reduces the PCB footprint; and they are intrinsically much lower power.
The low IF output is just one of the many world leading attributes of the E4005. The programmable multi-band RF filter reduces impact of high level far out-of-band interferers, especially high level VHF Band II signals interfering in the UHF band. It utilises Elonics patent pending ‘DigitalTune™ IP, allowing the product to be configured in software to support digital TV standards across the globe.
The E4002 is a zero IF output only pin and software compatible version of the E4005. Both products are available in a 32-lead 5- x 5-mm QFN, Pb free, RoHs compliant package and are shipping in production volumes today. Customer evaluation boards and application software are available to help with system integration.
