Both the SM5221 and SM6221 received the AccuStable quality label which is awarded only to products that meet the highest quality standards, the manufacturer claims. The new models complement the company’s established product families SM1221 and SM4221, extending the measurement range of the entire product family to 0.3 to 30 PSI. All these models are available with relative, differential and asymmetric pressure calibration.

The new MEMS sensors have been developed for deployment in multiple markets, including medical (fans, heart-lung machines and others) industrial (gas flow meters, pneumatic switches) and automotive applications (fuel vapor measurements). The production line is certified according to ISO / TS 16949 and ISO9001.

Equipped with the latest pressure converters and manufactured in a CMOS Mixed Signal process, the sensors generate a digital, fully compensated output signal. They have an internal temperature compensation circuit covering the range from -20°C to +85°C. The output appears at a 14-bit I2C interface. The casing can be equipped with either a vertical or a horizontal port.

By combining the pressure sensor with a signal conditioning ASIC in a single package, the product simplifies the downstream processing by the customer. The sensor can be mounted on a standard PCB and generate a calibrated pressure signal at its digital interface, making external circuits like a compensation network or a microcontroller with a user-defined control algorithm expendable.
