Low-profile power inductors for automotive designs

By Christoph Hammerschmidt

The MLD2012 inductors are based on a ferrite core are available in a compact IEC 2012 (EIA 0805) package with a footprint of 2.0 mm x 1.25 mm and an insertion height of just 0.5 mm.

The power inductors, which are qualified to AEC-Q200, offer inductance values ranging from 0.47 µH to 47 µH and rated currents from 750 mA to 1200 mA. With an operating temperature range of -40 °C to +125 °C, the low-profile components are suitable for automotive applications, especially in advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), where they help reduce the size of camera systems, for example.

The MLD2012 inductors are also suitable for in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) and telematics systems as well as in the various automotive ECUs and modules.

Like the existing MLD2016 series of power inductors, the new MLD2012 series features a multilayer structure in order to achieve low leakage flux, and are in volume production.
