LpS 2012 highlights latest developments in LED and OLED technology
With OLED TVs that do not require background lighting anymore just around the corner and the first OLED displays available for notebooks and mobile phones being already available, it is obvious that OLED is one of the major topics to discuss at LpS 2012. An expert panel will discuss and clarify technical issues such as OLED types, color consistency and luminous homogeneity, reliability and power supplies for OLEDs.
Nevertheless, the LED technology itself is still disruptive enough to dominate the entire event – with key notes, symposium presentations and workshops on topics such as LED light conversion technologies, LED optics design, LED electronics design, thermal management, materials and manufacturing, standardization and measurement issues and, of course, reliability. A special track is dedicated to LED outdoor applications. Keynote speakers are Michael Ziegler, Dr. Hans Nikol, and Prof. Andreas Schulz. Ziegler comes from the EU’s General Directorate for the Information Society – he will detail the future of solid-state lighting in Europe from the political perspective. Hans Nikol, Vice President LED Technology Strategy will highlight the development of the LED technology from revolution to mainstream. Mr. Schulz, Professor at HAWK Hildesheim provides insights into the challenges and opportunities of LED Technology in lighting projects.
Tech panels discuss topics such as OLED technologies, thermal management, intellectual property and many more. As usual, symposium and workshops are rounded off by an exposition where the latest products and designs in the field of LED lighting can be seen. The exhibitors list reads like a Who’s who of the LED lighting business, with e:lumix, Osram and Tridonic being the largest sponsors and industry groups such as CIE, ECPE, The EPIC consortium and others acting as supporting organizations. Media partners include eeNews Europe.
The Symposium and Expo will take place from September 25 to September 27 in the Festspielhaus in Bregenz, at the shores of Lake Constance. For the evening’s get-together on the 26th of September, the organizers have chartered a ship to cruise on the Lake.
