LpS 2012 highlights technology trends for LED design and application
Luger research contracted four high-profile keynote speakers – Michael Ziegler, member of the photonics unit at the EU Commission’s General Directorate for Information Society and Media; Hans Niko, VP LED Technology Strategy, Philips Lighting; Professor Andreas Schulz from the HAWK Hildesheim, and Professor Sergei Ikovenko Director, Innovation Leadership Programs, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Topics are an overview of EU initiatives in the area of solid state lighting (Ziegler), LED technology trends (Nikol); state-of-the-art technology for LED designs using the example of a museum project (Schulz); and Competitive patent circumvention techniques with examples from LED lighting (Ikovenko).
The symposium program covers a broad range of topics, including Disruptive LED Technologies, covered by Yole Développement, Bridgelabs and others; LED Light Conversion technologies (for instance, Tridonic, Technical University of Vienna); LED Optics Design (Zett Optics, OEC et al.) LED Electronic System design (International Rectifier, TAOS, MAZeT,); LED Production Technologies and Materials (Swarflex, Heraeus), LED System Reliability (Cree, Rood Microtec, Osram Opto Semiconductors), and LEDs in Outdoor Lighting Applications (Politecnico di Milano Laboratorio Luce, Technical University of Ilmenau). This list is not complete and names just a few highlights.
Besides the presentations there will be a small but very interesting exhibition; participants include Arrow, Ceramtec, Cree, Epcos, Instrument Systems Osram Opto, Rood Microtec and many more.
