Mastering Industrial Device Connectivity: PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, EtherCAT and cybersecurity

HMS Networks and Elektor are holding an exclusive live webinar on Tuesday May 21, 2024 (16:00pm CEST) on industrial device connectivity

Industrial automation devices typically need to communicate using connectivity protocols such as PROFINET, PROFIBUS, EtherNet/IP or EtherCAT. These are well-defined but usually require special hardware and dedicated interfacing which makes implementation a complex and lengthy process.

In addition, security by design is rarely considered when designing and deploying industrial networks. IIoT introduces new threats beyond those of traditional industrial networks. Addressing this complexity requires multiple layers of defense adding to a project’s length and cost.

The live webinar will demonstrate how quickly such communications can be up and running using proven techniques suing a Raspberry Pi as a demonstrator for a step-by-step demonstration of how to quickly configure industrial automation communication protocols.

The webinar will also cover emerging communication expectations like OPC UA and MQTT for seamless data exchange with IT software solutions and evolving cybersecurity regulations and threats to OT, and the cyber security building blocks needed to protect devices.

Webinar Speakers

Thierry Bieber has over 20 years of experience in industrial communication, machine infrastructure applications, and involvement with key standardization organizations like PROFINET International, ODVA, VDMA, and ZVEI. He has a deep understanding of industry standards, allowing him to effectively drive business development for HMS industrial communication and IIoT solutions.

Kurt van Buul has over 25 years of expertise and is a key player in driving the future of industrial automation. Specializing in this field, he has a proven track record in rapidly designing embedded Industrial Ethernet nodes, pioneering IIoT-on-a-chip products, and delivering custom solutions for OEMs.

Brian Tristam Williams began translating and editing for Elektor in 2010 and is currently an Editor (English) for Elektor Mag: www.elektormagazine.com/williams.

The live webinar on Tuesday May 21, 2024 at 16:00pm CEST will also include a Q&A session, offering the opportunity to engage directly with the experts from HMS Networks.
