Maxim unveils power-management solution for Intel Atom-based embedded applications
The MAX8958 will allow developers to reduce time to market and increase battery usage time up to 10% relative to competing solutions. It meets shrinking form-factor requirements in next-generation embedded applications including digital security, media phones, in-vehicle infotainment, and industrial applications.
Maxim’s engineers worked closely with Intel’s team to develop this fully integrated analog and mixed-signal power-management solution that meets the aggressive power-reduction targets set for the Intel platform.
The MAX8958 provides two Quick-PWM VID controller supplies, three high-efficiency step-down converters, 13 LDOs, an RTC with alarms, processor platform sideband signals, a clock output for communications modules, a backup battery charger, and an SPI interface for programming. This PMIC is optimized to fit in a 5.4 mm x 5.7 mm x 0.4 mm (pitch) wafer-level package (WLP).
