Medical 15W DC-DC converter has 2:1 input and extended temperature
CUI has launched a 15W medical grade DC-DC converter with a 2:1 input range and extended temperature range.
The PTP15 Series from CUI is a 5 pin dual in line package (DIP) isolated DC-DC converter aimed at medical instrumentation and home medical supplies.
The converter has 4000 Vac isolation or 5600 Vdc isolation with a 2:1 input voltage range with version for 9 to 18V, 9 to 18V, 18 to 36V and 36 to 75V. Output voltages range from 5V to 24V.
- Covid-19 drives boom in home healthcare power adapters
- Isolated DC-DC converter ranges have asymmetric outputs
The DC-DC converter complies with the IEC/EN 60601-1 and EN 55011 Class A safety standards without external components. The 4000Vac isolation and 60601-1 compliance would imply a 2x MOPP patient safety level which would require a creepage of 8mm, but this is not specified by CUI.
The 2 x 1in (50.8 x 25.4 x 12.0mm) standard encapsulated package supports an extended temperature range from -40 to +100°C and features output over current, short circuit and overvoltage protections.
The isolated converter can also be used for low-power consumer electronics and industrial equipment that requires high-isolation voltage.
The PTP15 is available now in distribution from Mouser.
